FINISHED CORNER FRAMES

Finished corners frames are a beautiful solution when framing items that require perfection. Ordinary frames have a mitre in the four corners that signify where the four legs of the frame have been joined together.

With a finished corner frame, the mitres are covered with a thick layer of gesso, and then the frame is built up and finished with gold leafing or painting, leaving the mitre invisible. The advantage to the finished corner, besides the mitre being invisible, is that the design pattern, if there is one, will be seamless. With a mitre, a design pattern will almost always be interupted.

The craftsmanship that goes into making a finished corner frame is an art unto itself. Each frame is custom made to the size specifications of the art work. Many of the finished corner frames are available in authentic 18 - 22kt. gold and white gold leafing. Some of the more ornate frames are actually hand carved. Generally, these frames take 4-6 weeks to make due to the painstaking process involved in creating a single frame.

Finished corner frames are a wonderful option for art that demands a frame that will be appropriate for it's style and value. Finished corner frames are available in many different period styles, ranging from authentic renaissance and impressionist designs to art deco and modern.
