FRAME STANDS
Frame stands are generally created for the purpose of displaying a two sided piece of artwork or document. The concept behind the frame stand is that it is a double sided display, with a document placed between two pieces of mat board and glass, allowing for the viewing of both sides. The double frame is then mounted onto a custom base to support it's weight.
The make up of a frame stand is literally two frames, back to back, with two pieces of matting and glass on either side. The two sides of the frames are hinged together. Virtually any frame can be used for a frame stand, the matting is necessary to adequately fill the space between the two frames.
The frame stand is then mounted onto a frame base. The frame base can be made of the same moulding as the frame. It is custom cut to form a sturdy base for the frame to rest in. It is weighted down with sand to hold the weight of the frame.
Frame Stands can be a creative and fun way of displaying two-sided art, or even single sided art that you would rather have sitting on a table instead of hung on the wall.
